An Angry Hum

My name is Troy. I make stuff. Food, art, things made of wood, hundreds of logos, tens of thousands of sentences, two kids, one marriage, and some other stuff. I’m good at some things, bad at some things, and not sure about everything else, though I’ll give it a shot.

I grew up in the Rockies. I don’t hunt because the hours suck. I don’t fish because I don’t sit still well. I’ve never ridden a horse because I’m a little afraid of them. I can climb a mountain though. I don’t get lost in the woods. And for a guy in his mid fifties, I can ride a snowboard like a guy in his mid fifties.

I married way up, the same week Rancid released their self titled debut. We moved to Minneapolis. I’ve worked as a graphic designer and animator for about 30 years. I haven’t been clean shaven  since I was in my early twenties. I own exactly 4 times as many Chuck Taylor All Stars as I do ties.

I can cook, and I love to talk about food and drink. I love to travel because I’ve got see what’s over the next hill and beyond the frame of the photo. I’m a pop culture nerd, married to a pop culture nerd, and father to two pop culture nerds. We often speak in quotes and pop culture references like we were in the Star Trek: Next Generation episode “Darmok” (see what I did there? I explained our speaking in nerdy pop culture references by referring to a nerdy show about people talking in pop culture references).

I write this blog because I love to write. I publish it because I want to get better at it.
